Fear of mistakes, playing too safe, hesitation or even panick, affects their impact on the sport. This often begins to decrease playing time or performance. They struggle to decide whether to shoot or pass, to make a move or hold the play, to make a tackle or get into position, leading to less confidence and more indecision.
Tying confidence to the results, instead of their capabilities, puts unrealistic pressure to be perfect.
How about Nerves?….commonly nervous before the game even starts? Nerves are just a form of energy that athletes need to learn to embrace and channel toward the process. Having high expectations for results is not inherently bad, but they need to be able to manage those expectations.
